An estuary is a partly enclosed body of brackish water (saltwater and freshwater mixed together) with one or more rivers or streams flowing into, and a free connection to the open sea. Estuaries are a part of life on Long Island and odds are, you’ve visited one or more throughout your time on Long Island. It’s a perfect time to get out and explore, to practice your social distancing and to have fun with your loved ones.
We encourage you to embrace nature and the outdoors and learn about our natural areas. Tag us by using the hashtag #GFEEoutside. Can’t wait to see what you find!
Download our guidebook and see if you can find all of these living and nonliving things.
