Join the Group, Kenney’s/McCabe Beach Civic Association, and the Town of Southold to plant native plants at Great Pond in Southold. After a year of removing phragmites, an invasive species also known as common reed, volunteers will now plant bayberry, button bush, groundsel bush, swamp milkweed, native grasses, and more to help restore this critical habitat. There will also be an opportunity to cut additional phragmites.
This event is weather dependent. Long sleeve shirts, long pants, and closed toe shoes are required. Please bring your own tools, work gloves, and plenty of water.
