Join wildlife biologist Mike Bottini for a nature walk through Arshamomaque Preserve, the site of one of the first documented river otter home ranges on Long Island since their population was decimated here 300 years ago during the Fur Trade Era. March is one of their peak scent marking periods, corresponding to giving birth to a new litter of pups and to mating season. Learn about this unusual reproductive strategy and other cool things about otters as we look for their “sign”.
Please meet in the parking area on Rte. 25 west of Chapel Lane.
